Bilal Aybakan was born in Şanlıurfa in 1963. He graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Theology in 1985. He taught some religious courses in secondary schools for three years. He joined in aforementioned faculty as a research assistant in 1989. After finishing his MA entitled “The Contract of Mandate in Islamic Law” in 1990, he completed his PhD thesis entitled “The Fulfillment of Obligations in Islamic Law” in 1997. He became associate professor of Islamic Law in 2002, and full professor in 2007. He has taught many courses regarding different aspects of Islamic Law in undergraduate and graduate programs for 20 years. He has written various academic works about different aspects of Islamic Jurisprudence in Turkish and English. After consummating his career in Marmara as the head of Islamic Law Department, he left Marmara University on the 27th of March in 2017, and joined on the same day in the teaching stuff of Ibn Khaldun University. Soon later he was appointed as the founder dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences.
