Asst. Prof. Dr. Yasar Colak was born in 1964. He is a graduate of Trabzon Imam Hatip High School and the Faculty of Divinity at Ankara University and holds a master degree from the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at Manchester University. He has completed his doctoral studies in Islamic History in Ondokuz Mayıs University in the Islamic History and Arts Department and he has served the Turkish Republic Prime Ministry Presidency of Religious Affairs for over 30 years in various religious and administrative positions including as an Imam, Instructor, Preacher, Inspector, Publisher and Religious Services Counselor. Dr. Colak also served as the President of Diyanet Center of America in Lanham, Maryland, USA, also known as Turkish American Community Center between 2011-2018. Dr. Colak is now academic staff member in the Ibn Haldun University’s School of Islamic Sciences. His research interests focus on the early Muslim historiography and different methodological approaches in Western Studies of Islam.
