Our Student Eda Özdemir Presented A Paper at An International Symposium
Our graduate student Eda Özdemir presented a paper at the International Symposium on the Place of the Fifth Century AH in the Development of Islamic Sciences attended by 73 international academics.

On November 15-16, 2024, the Faculty of Theology at Istanbul University hosted the “International Symposium on the Place of the Fifth Century AH in the Development of Islamic Sciences.” A total of 73 international scholars presented their papers at the event, with only four delivering their presentations in English. Eda Özdemir was among these four scholars.

In her presentation titled “al-Khatib al-Bagdadi's Methodological Contributions To Hadith Studies and Their Influence on Subsequent Islamic Scholarship”, Özdemir discussed the methodological contributions of Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi, a prominent figure in Hadith methodology and biographical evaluation (Rijal studies), during the fifth century AH. She also highlighted his influence on renowned scholars such as Ibn Salah, Ibn Hajar, Ibn Asakir, Al-Iraqi, Al-Dhahabi, and Ibn Khallikan. Özdemir emphasized that Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi secured his place in history as a pioneering figure through his contributions to Hadith methodology, Rijal studies, and historiography.

We congratulate our student Eda Özdemir, who took part in this prestigious symposium, made an important contribution to both the Turkish and international academic communities and represented our University in the best way, and we wish her continued success.
