Learning from War: Cultural Interaction During the Crusades

At the congress, Asst. Prof. Uzunoğlu presented findings from the Scientific Research Project (BAP) titled “Learning from War: Cultural Interaction During the Crusades” through her paper, “Cultural Encounters via Crusades”. In her presentation, she examined the ways in which different cultures encountered one another during the Crusades and the spheres of interaction generated by these encounters, emphasizing that war produces not only conflict but also cultural exchange and transformation.

The congress offered a significant opportunity to meet with distinguished scholars considered leading experts in the field and to lay the groundwork for future collaborations between academicians. During the discussions held throughout the congress, Uzunoğlu had the opportunity to share the project's findings with international colleagues.

One of the most notable aspects of the presentation was that the audience, comprising adherents of various religions, arrived at a shared understanding of the subject matter. Uzunoğlu noted that this was highly significant, both in terms of the presentation's content and the future of the field.

We congratulate our faculty member and wish them continued success in their international academic endeavours.
