Asst. Prof. Mehmet Ali Başak, faculty member of the Department of Religious Studies at the School of Islamic Sciences, together with our graduate students, successfully represented our faculty by participating in the National Congress of Sociology of Religion and Academic Summit held in Eskişehir on April 18–19, 2026.
Within the framework of the theme “Family and Population Decade Special”, Asst. Prof. Başak presented joint research conducted with his graduate students. Among the presentations were “Religion on Tabii: An Evaluation of Religious Narratives and Representations” co-authored with Sude Nur Tugay, a graduate student from the Department of Sociology, and “Religious and Social Factors in University Students’ Marriage Decisions”, co-authored with Kevser Kayhan, a graduate student from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Department of Religious Studies. In addition to these, Asst. Prof. Başak also presented his individual research titled “The Family Dimension of Religious Disaffiliation: Typologies of (Non-)Religious Socialization in Families in Türkiye”.
During the congress, Asst. Prof. Başak also took part in consultation meetings with sociologists of religion from various universities across Türkiye, representing our university.
