Transformation of Legal Thought Discussed at the Islamic Studies Talks XV
At the Islamic Studies Talks XV organised by the School of Islamic Studies, “Abolition or Amendment?: The Transformation of Legal Rulings (Ahkam) in Modern Islamic-Ottoman Legal Thought” title is discussed.

At the fifteenth session of the Islamic Studies Talks series organized by Ibn Haldun University, School of Islamic Studies, held on April 14, 2026, Prof. Dr. Sami Erdem, a faculty member of Marmara University, Faculty of Theology, was hosted as a guest.

In his presentation titled “Abolition or Amendment?: The Transformation of Legal Rulings (Ahkam) in Modern Islamic-Ottoman Legal Thought” Erdem provided an in-depth analysis of the relationship between the changing social structure and legal thought during the modernization process. The event, held at the Teoman Duralı Conference Hall, concluded after an interactive Q&A session with the intensive participation of our undergraduate and graduate students.
