Prof. Dr. Bilal Aybakan, a faculty member of the School of Islamic Studies, presented a paper at the International Qādī 'Abd al-Jabbār Symposium organized by Karabük University on 1-3 November 2024.
Prof. Aybakan, who participated in the symposium with a paper titled “Mu'tazilite Conception of the Usūl al-Fiqh in the Case of Qāḍī ʿAbd al-Jabbār”, stated that Qādī 'Abd al-Jabbār went down in the history of usul as the most competent authority who wrote a theologian fiqh usul work on behalf of Mu'tazila.
In his presentation, Prof. Aybakan summarized Qādī ʿAbd al-Jabbār's understanding of theusūl al-fiqh within the framework of the 17th volume of his work “el-Muġnî fî Ebvâbi’t-Tevḥîd ve’l-ʿAdl” titled “eş-Şerʿiyyât” and tried to reveal the basic parameters of the Muʿtazilite conception of usūl al-fiqhin this context.
