School of Islamic Studies is organising an event titled “Processing Ottoman Printed Texts with ChatGPT”. Under the moderation of our faculty member Prof. Dr. Bilal Aybakan, Res. Assist. Hamza Özen (Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University Faculty of Theology) will be the speaker of the event, which will be held on Wednesday, December 11 at 20.00 on Zoom.
The presentation "Processing Ottoman Printed Texts with ChatGPT" examines an innovative approach to handling Ottoman texts in digital environments. In this process, paragraphs are first extracted from printed Ottoman materials using ABBYY FineReader and Microsoft PowerToys, preparing the texts for digitization. After, with assistance from ChatGPT, the extracted texts are edited, and any omissions or errors are corrected using the Ottoman alphabet. In the final stage, the revised texts are transcribed into modern Turkish. This method facilitates faster and more efficient processing of Ottoman printed works, demonstrating the potential integration of AI-assisted text editing technologies into Ottoman studies.
