Rashid Mubarak Al-Muhannadi, who won first place in the 2017 competition organized by the Cultural Village Foundation of Qatar (Katara) and serves in the Qatari Amiri Diwan, was commissioned to write a new copy of the Holy Quran. Through this project, Al-Muhannadi achieved a historic milestone, earning the title of "the first Qatari calligrapher to write the entire Holy Quran."
Brought to our University through the efforts of our Faculty of Islamic Sciences member Assist. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Başak, the 7th and 30th juzs (parts) of the project were written in the historical madrasas of our Süleymaniye Campus. While the 7th juz of the Holy Quran was penned last year at the Salis Madrasa upon the invitation of our Alliance of Civilizations Institute (MEDİT), the final juz of this comprehensive eight-year project was completed at the Darülhadis Madrasa, hosted by our Faculty. The final 23 pages of the Holy Quran were presented to the public as part of the “Al-Mushaf Al-Katari” exhibition.
Building an artistic and spiritual bridge between Qatar and Istanbul, the opening program of the exhibition was attended by the Consul General of the State of Qatar in Istanbul, Dr. Naif Jassim Alabduljabbar; the Chairman of our Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz; and the Deputy Chairman of our Board of Trustees, N. Bilal Erdoğan.
At the conclusion of the opening program, Calligrapher Rashid Mubarak Al-Muhannadi presented facsimile copies of the 30th juz written at the Darülhadis Madrasa to the Consul General of the State of Qatar in Istanbul, Dr. Naif Jassim Alabduljabbar; the Chairman of our Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. İrfan Gündüz; the Deputy Chairman of our Board of Trustees, N.
