We Hosted Taha Kılınç for the 'Where is the Islamic World?' Conference
As part of the Islamic Studies Conference series, researcher-author Taha Kılınç met with our students at our University and gave a conference titled "Where is the Islamic World?".

The conference, titled “Where is the Islamic World?”, was held at the Ibn Haldun University Campus on Tuesday, October 21. The speaker for the event, organized by the School of Islamic Studies within the framework of its "Islamic Studies Conferences," was researcher-author Taha Kılınç. The conference attracted significant interest from numerous students and academics from various faculties of our university, particularly the School of Islamic Studies.

The event drew attention for offering both an intellectual viewpoint on the contemporary Islamic geography and a historical perspective. In his speech, Taha Kılınç addressed the historical development of the “Islamic world” concept, its relationship with current political and cultural borders, and the common ground among Muslim societies. He also touched upon the crises of mindset, identity, and representation facing the Islamic world in the modern period, emphasizing the importance of religious and intellectual rebuilding efforts.

Answering questions from students at the end of the program, Kılınç stressed the necessity for Muslim societies to recognize and understand their own history and geography anew. Participants expressed that the conference was both enlightening and illuminating for contemporary discussions. The Islamic Studies Conferences series, organized by the School of Islamic Studies with the goal of enriching the faculty's intellectual discussion environment and introducing students to different perspectives, will continue with new guests throughout the semester.
